Watercolor Hobbyist
Gabby Ann S. Art
Hi! I'm Gabby, short for Gabrielle Ann Sales. I am a watercolor hobbyist (so that means I don't do commissions) and this is my space to display some of my favorite artwork I've done, in my medium of watercolor. I am a digital marketer by trade, and I am a former adventure travel blogger –you can still view my site.I used to display my artwork on Instagram, but my focus in life right now is to enjoy the offline, non-digital world as much as I can, hence my choice of medium. However, sometimes you still need a space online to show your friends and family and whoever cares to see my stuff, and that's where this site comes in.

Watercolor Hobbyist
About Me

I am a lover of art, and I am a believer it started in my genes. I come from a line of artists on my mom’s side. I am also an explorer for art museums, locally and abroad, and find myself frequently walking around them, learning about and observing each piece I see. I also find art museums therapeutic, just as I do with creating art.I grew up in the east coast state of New Jersey, lived in the west coast state of Arizona for a long time in my early 20s, lived in the Philippines when I was a kid for about a year, and I’ve travelled abroad and domestically a lot for many years. Most of the different places I’ve stepped foot in have influenced me in some way, shape, or form. I like to see a lot of things in my life like it’s a form of art and sometimes, something you can dive deeper into mastering or finding new perspectives in. For example, rock climbing, learning and discovering music, reading interesting books, watching interesting films. Seriously, it makes living much more worth it.

Why Watercolor?
They say watercolor is one of the hardest mediums of art to work with, but I honestly think all of them are hard in their own way. But if that’s the case, I like a challenge sometimes. It started when I wanted to do a fun activity for a date once in 2022 and my date suggested maybe we can watercolor. I liked the idea so I went out and bought my first ever watercolor kit, which was cheap but had alot of the supplies, from Walmart. My first time working with watercolor, since I never had before, did not make for pretty artwork at all. It clearly showed I had no idea what I was doing. But nonetheless, I still loved it. I never dived into my artistic abilities much as a child, even though I used to doodle a lot. As I got older as a young adult, I started going to a few “paint and sip” classes and I liked what I was doing, all for fun.Next thing I knew, I was getting gifted by friends and family watercolor supplies and I had to use every one of them.Having a hobby and an outlet like watercolor painting, with constant learning and practicing, allows me to have a lot of fun. To express whatever I want and how I want to.When I first started to learn and pick up these colors, I was going through a very hard time in my life with these sudden life changes. I lost my dad in 2022, was going through a breakup, was overcoming chronic illness, and was battling depression. I was going through a year of grief and I wanted something that would add more positivity to my life, a way of coping if you will. And now, painting and drawing has stuck around.
What I hope to do
Although I am a hobbyist, two of my dreams one day in this life is to 1. Be commissioned to paint for a children’s book for an already established author (or any picture book, for that matter). 2. Have my artwork be featured in a gallery in an art museum. Thanks for following along to see what I’ve made!
